Art Afterschool is today, we'll continue making My Daruma. Join me for Arts Alive! Saturday the 18th, ages 12+, we'll also be creating My Daruma. Create several Japanese paper mâché perseverance and good-luck figures, traditionally given as a gift. Designed with intentionally blank eyes for the recipient to fill when they make a wish or goal, the second eye is filled when the goal or wish is complete. “Seven times down – eight times up,” each figure has a weighted round base, demonstrating the translated quote “nanakorobi yaoki”. Fun fact: in Pokémon Darumaka and Darmanitan are based on traditional Daruma. Just in time for our fancy holiday cooking and baking, Cookbook Book Club will try MASTERING THE ART OF FRENCH COOKING by Julia Child on Thursday, December 7, 5:30 – 6:30. Borrow the book, try a few recipes, and then get together at the library to share some food and talk about how it turned out. Copies of MASTERING THE ART OF FRENCH COOKING are available to check out from the Unalaska Public Library now. All are welcome, no matter whether you have mastered French Cooking or just read the book and dreamed about it! 😊

Cookbook Book Club is meeting tonight at 5:30 at the Unalaska Public Library! Come visit with fellow cooks and food enthusiasts and talk about recipes you tried from The Korean Vegan.
