Tomorrow marks the first ever Fireside Writing Club meeting! This initial meeting will be a great opportunity to get to know one another, share some ideas, and start our journey together! Don’t miss out - swing by the library at 7:00 PM tomorrow, September 5th.

Petite Picassos starts next week! After they get a chance to run around in the gym during Tot Time, bring your little ones over to the Kids Room on Monday mornings for an exciting opportunity to play, create, and strengthen hand-eye coordination as we complete fun, easy art projects. Children will learn foundational aspects of art creation while also boosting their creativity and fine motor skills. Adult supervision is required.

The Aquatic Center's Open Lap Swim will be closed this evening (8/30) from 5pm - 7pm. Instead, you can come sign up for an individual event/relay team at our final Community Swim Meet of the summer! Show off your skills and have some fun with our talented swimmers. The sauna and the fitness center will still be available.

Join us in the cozy embrace of the library fireplace every first Thursday of the month for a gathering of passionate writers and wordsmiths. Share your poetry, spoken word, song lyrics, short fiction, or any creative work you've been crafting with a supportive community eager to provide feedback and inspiration. This club is open to all levels of writers, regardless of experience. We invite you to enjoy a nurturing space for growth as we collectively explore the beauty of language and storytelling. Our first meeting will be September 5!

Spots are still available for our beginner guitar classes! Youth lessons are after school on Mondays, while adult classes are at a breezy 10:00 a.m. on Saturdays. Throughout the class, we will master the basics and learn how to play a few songs. This class is designed to help you begin your journey - with practice, you'll be playing like Hendrix in no time! Please note that all participants must provide their own guitars for this class. If no guitar is available, please contact Sydney at (907) 581-1297.

Can you believe it? Art Afterschool starts NEXT WEEK!!! There are still a few spots available, but don't wait to sign up your 1st - 8th graders. Space is limited! Join us as we spend time together beachcombing and finding ocean treasures. We'll turn these awesome finds into one-of-a-kind creations in the second half of each class! You don't want to miss it ☀️🌊

Unfortunately, the Bunker Hill Challenge has been canceled due to low enrollment. However, you can still earn a free Bunker Hill Challenge sticker! Simply hike Bunker Hill anytime between August 24th and September 1st, then stop by the Community Center to pick up your sticker.

Going a whole year without practicing your strokes makes it pretty hard to get back into the swing of things. Starting this September, you can come swim with us on Tuesdays during the Aquatic Center's Youth Swimmers Practice right after school 3:15PM - 4:30PM. You'll be ready in no time for Youth Swim League this spring! Participants K - 8th Grade should know how to swim before joining and will be asked to perform their swim test. Register today!

Want to pick up a new skill this season? Register online today for our upcoming Beginner Guitar Lessons! If you’ve never picked up a guitar before, that’s okay! We will start at the very beginning, learning proper posture, how to tune, and how to play basic chords. *Participants must provide their own instruments. Classes are now in session, which means Friday Splash at the Aquatic Center is back!! Kick off your weekend right with an afterschool FREE swim with your friends. Starting tomorrow at 2:30PM - 4:00PM, Kindergarten - 12th Graders are welcome. Don't forget to bring your swimsuit!

📚 The library invites families with children ages 0 – 6 to our weekly story time on Thursdays at 11:15 am! This is an interactive 45-minute program with stories, 🎶 songs, movement activities, and a very simple craft ✂️. Siblings are welcome 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦. No registration required, just show up in the children’s room at the public library! We hope to see you there 😊.

All participants from the Skating 101 classes this winter are invited to a skating participant party this Friday (8/23) from 5:30 to 6:30 PM in the Community Center Gymnasium. Bring your gear, we'll have some floor time and take a photo with your helmet donor decals! *if you’ve skated outside be sure to break your gear down, clean, and prep it for indoors

Embark on an adventure in creativity through beachcombing and found art! In the first half of each session, we will explore the shores, collecting treasures like shells, beach glass, and driftwood from local beaches. Then, we’ll transform these found objects into stunning works of art. From mosaics crafted from colorful sea glass to wall art formed from weathered driftwood, the possibilities are as endless as the ocean itself! Note: Participants will be outside for the first half of each class. Please ensure that your children are equipped with proper outdoor clothing.

We're making the most of the final days of summer!! Join us at the Aquatic Center for the last Summer Community Swim Meet on Friday, August 30th at 6PM. This event is open to swimmers of all skill levels! Whether you're looking to compete or just enjoy the atmosphere, it's going to be a fun night of exciting races and community fun. Events include freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly, and relays - sign up for your event at the Aquatic Center/ PCR today!! Warm-ups will be at 5:30PM, Meet start will be at 6:00PM.

🎉 The Heart of the Aleutians Festival kicks off at Noon today at UCSD High School! 🌟 Don't miss out on the amazing vendors, delicious food, live music, fun games, and so much more! 🎶🍔🎈 The festival runs until 6 PM—come join the fun! 🎊

IMPORTANT UPDATE! Due to the expected weather on Saturday, PCR will be moving the Heart of the Aleutians Festival into the Unalaska City High School Gymnasium. The festival will still take place from noon to 6 PM and will feature all of the great vendors, games, and music—just in a drier setting. We want to extend a special thank you to the Unalaska City School District for opening up their facilities to us for the festival.

Attention K-2nd Grade Soccer Campers: Today’s morning session will once again take place in the Community Center gymnasium. We look forward to seeing you there for the last day of camp!
